I am mostly through writing chapter 16. There's one scene where I'm not sure about the ending, and another that I have to write, but I think I can update within the next ... five days? (Don't hold me to that. Setting deadlines for myself generally means I fail them miserably.) I have a project to do this weekend but I don't think it'll take that long, and after being sick all last week and writing an essay this week, I want to take at least part of the weekend for myself.
I've been thinking more about the Speak project, which has admittedly stalled for the moment. The part I'm tripping over (I think) is rewriting one of the last chapters -- adding in a more intimate scene for Kara and Dami. It's just a little difficult to wrap my mind around, though editing and altering the earlier chapters was fairly easy.
I think within the next month I'm going to do a couple more cover sketches, narrow down my favorite ideas and do them in more detail. BLAH. I kind of wish I had an artist friend to con into doing it for me. -_- And I have some Createspace vouchers for one free copy of a book... which is attractive, since I wouldn't have to pay for a proof copy of the book, but I've gotten fairly familiar with Lulu and I'm not sure about switching. Plus there are expiration dates on the vouchers.
Maybe I could find a beta-reader for the intimate scene. Hmm. I think it'd be along the lines (explicitness-wise) of the intimate scene between Casey and Rory in chapter 11 of Bad Moon. Or maybe I could give myself some distance from it and work on the bonus story instead. The bonus story probably deserves its own update, though, which I guess I'll do later.
